Extension content is most effective when its format, publishing home, and structure work together for how people find and use information today.
Coordinate platform, content, and discovery
Cooperative Extension audiences may download resources, browse websites, collaborate on living knowledge, or ask AI tools detailed questions. The Extension Essentials tipsheets show how these approaches can reinforce one another.
Use the right platform. PDFs suit stable, self-contained materials that need offline access, signatures, or embedded media. Websites are the public hub for organizational information, news, and regularly updated education. Wikis support collaborative, text-rich resources that change often.
Make web pages easy to find and use. Clear H1–H3 headings, question-based subheads, and direct answers help both readers and AI-driven search tools. Four to six conversational FAQ pairs can further improve clarity and visibility.
Maintain one authoritative source. Link to the original fact sheet instead of copying it across sites. This reduces upkeep, avoids duplicate content, and helps people and AI tools locate the most current version.
Together, these practices help Extension teams share reliable information in the right format while keeping it discoverable, clear, and current.
