What is the change you are designing to achieve?

Implemention of ergonomic best practices for women when choosing and using agricultural tools.

How will you measure the change?

Pre and post surveys of beliefs, intentions and behaviors.

What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?

Using wearable tech to evaluate and educate the ergonomic design of tools for women in agriculture.

How did the design-a-thon help you?

Provided our i-Three Corps team time to work together, gather and organize our thoughts. Also, it provided the opportunity to interact with potential collaborators.

Summary

For many reasons, women are more susceptible to ergonomic injuries in agriculture. The Ergonomics for Women in Agriculture i-Three Corps Project is working on the development and dissemination of resources and tools to educate on and evaluate these issues in food production systems. This includes looking at wearable technology as a tool to evaluate ergonomics of women that work in agriculture, as well as using those devices as educational tools.
