From Team Member David Keto:

What is the change you are designing to achieve?

Our project is designed to change attitudes and build confidence around adopting ag production strategies that improve adaptation and resiliency to climate change.

How will you measure that change?

We will use pre and post surveys after people are exposed to our videos and other products to help measure changes in attitude. Longer term we hope to conduct follow ups to determined whether producers actually changed their practices.

What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?

…use YouTube linkages and public vs unlisted settings as an integrated way to help with evaluation. We also plan to use augmented reality to help link videos directly with fact sheets and increase information density.

How did the design-a-thon help you?

Great exposure to new ideas and tools from both key informants and other corps members. Concept mapping was the single most useful tool to help change how I approach projects.

Summary:

This team of six members from three states and institutions will use videos primarily to feature early adopters and showcase adaptation strategies that temper the effects of weather variability (soil conservation methods, irrigation management, crop variety selection,  and utilizing local citizen data.
