Depending on where you live, your lawn may be comprised of cool-season, warm-season, or a combination of cool- and warm-season grasses. Whether establishing or maintaining a lawn, following proper cultural and maintenance practices will depend on what type of grass you grow and how it is adapted to its environment. Learn more about cool season and warm season grasses.

We live in Los Lunas, NM and was wondering what type of grass we should plant and when. Also, would like to know what type of trees to plant and when would be the best time to plant trees and grass? Thanks.

I LIVE IN CHARLOTTE IN 28207 ZIP. WE HAVE A SHADY YARD AND WANT TO KNOW IF WE CAN PLANT ZOYSIA GRASS AND BE SUCCESSFUL. WE HAVE SEEN A FEW LAWNS IN THE AREA THAT SEEM TO BE O.K. WITH ZOYSIA. THE HOT SUMMERS PLAY HAVOCK ON OUR SEEDED LAWNS AND WE HAVE A HILL THAT CONTINUES TO BECOME BARE EVEN THOUGH WE WORK ON IT CONSTANTLY. WE TOOK OUT A TREE IN AUGUST TO PREPARE FOR MORE SUN AND TO PLANT OUR FALL SEEDS HOWEVER WITH THE DROUGHT WE WEREN'T ABLE TO WATER THEREFORE NO GRASS. WE ARE CONSIDERING ZOYSIA FOR THE SPRING. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATFULLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.
